AWS 51st Annual National Conference Registration Begins June 18, 9 AM ET be sure to review requirements early and have access to American Wine Society website before June 18th.  (You will need to know your username and password for www.americanwinesociety.org)


+ Membership is half priced so you can still get a chance to benefit by joining now for only $35.  This makes your eligible to attend the 51 Annual conference in November, and get discounted access to AWS Meadowlands' annual holiday party in December.

+ Thanks again to all who were able to attend BJ's Brewery and Restaurant Fund Raiser. we were able to raise over $400 towards AWS student education funds.  If you were not able to make it, we plan to do one more in August.

+ Bottling wine in July 7th. We will start at 2:30 PM so get there early to grab a bite.  Your welcome to bring snacks, pizza, etc..  Everyone is welcome to come in and see how wine is bottled in a winery.  Free event for all members and guest.

DON'T FORGET TO VISIT US AT  BJ'S RESTAURANT & BREWHOUSE FOR OUR FUND RAISER.   American Wine Society Education Foundation's 25th year Celebration.


Just show up, order any foods and dishes from their menu, show them the flyer, and BJ's will donate to AWS Education Foundation.  It's that easy.

The Jersey City Chapter of American Wine Society is hosting a wine dinner at Broa Cafe on Thursday May 31st.  Tickets for the event are $50 which includes food, tax and tip.
Broa is a BYOB, people attending dinner are asked to bring a bottle of wine to share with the group that will pair well with Broa's Portuguese cuisine. We (Greg and Nancy) will be helping to coordinate what is bring what type of wine so that we have a nice variety.

EVENT CHANGE NOTICE:  Our original presenter JoAnn had a last minute schedule change.   Thus, we have update this months presentation.

We have a very special guest who would like to step-up and assist with our next meeting. 
We are very excited to introduce David Falchek, Executive Director of the American Wine Society will conduct the presentation.  


Come check out the overlooked French wine region of Loire. The diverse Loire Valley extends from the Atlantic Coast where seafood-friendly Muscadet is produced, deep into the central France where you will find the ancestral homelands cabernet franc from places such as Brouilly, sauvignon blanc from Sancerre and chenin blanc from Anjou.
It is noted that "The Loire Valley is France's most diverse wine region, producing exemplary wines in every style".   Joins us and discover these wines.  It will be everything you wanted to know about Loire valley wines but were too afraid to ask.

AWS Members and friends would like to thank Monika Elling for the presentation. Monika is also CEO of the Paradigm Collection, a newly launched, national importer of fine wines and craft spirits. She provided us with comparison of various wines.   Comparison of white Bourdeauxs to Santa Ynez Valley; Rose from Bourdeaux to Provance; old world to new world Malbec and Merlot.

AWS Meadowlands Wine Tasting - April 26th

Monika is a noted speaker and author, and a regular presenter at numerous industry events, such as the Society of Wine Educators Conferences.    
As usual, we will have fantastic wines to cover for this month.  She will review a couple of special whites, now that spring is here a few awesome rose, and of course various reds.  These wines are specially selected and brought in by our speaker for this meeting, and will be topic of discussion.

Portuguese Tavern wine and food pairing was a fantastic event, hosted by AWS member Maria Stevens of  JMF - Grupo Faustino - Palm Bay International and Executive Chef José Luis Santos.  Maria's knowledge of culture, food and wines of this region is unmatched.   Special discounts for those who attended, at Stew Leonard's of Clifton NJ store for all of the wines listed below.   The event took place at the wonderful Portuguese Tavern at 507 Crooks Avenue, Clifton, NJ.
