General Etiquette when Attending Wine Tasting Events or a Winery.

Going to a wine tasting event can be fun and can be an incredibly informative experience!  However, for many, first wine tasting can also be a bit overwhelming.   Knowing the right etiquette can make the whole day more relaxed and enjoyable for both you, the winery, friends and guests.

 ++ Do:

+ Do Keep an Open Mind and try something new.

+ Do Pour or Spit Things Out if you're not fully content. The purpose is to try new things.

+ Ask Questions, take notes or take pictures.

+ Always hold your wine glass by the stem.

+ Do trust your senses and go with it.

**  Don't:

* Never wear colognes, perfumes or aftershave on the day of any wine event.  Some wineries or events will ask you to leave.

* Lipsticks will affect the taste of wines.

* Don't chug the wine

* Don’t overfill your glass, the object is to taste it.  More than 2oz at a time is pushing it.

* Don’t put ice cubes in your wine.  Place the wine bottle in ice, not ice in the wine.

* Don't wear a white shirt it's not worth it.  It never fails to get a wine stain.   However, a white background helps with viewing wine colors and hues much better.
