Portuguese Tavern wine and food pairing was a fantastic event, hosted by AWS member Maria Stevens of  JMF - Grupo Faustino - Palm Bay International and Executive Chef José Luis Santos.  Maria's knowledge of culture, food and wines of this region is unmatched.   Special discounts for those who attended, at Stew Leonard's of Clifton NJ store for all of the wines listed below.   The event took place at the wonderful Portuguese Tavern at 507 Crooks Avenue, Clifton, NJ.

The House of Mondavi event was rocking good.  This was another successful event and we are very happy that so many members and guest came out for this tasting event.     It's due to on-going member support that allows us to bring in awesome wines and presenters.    We like to shout out special thanks to Bill McPharlin & Andrew McKenna of Charles Krug Mondavi for a fun evening.

THE HOUSE OF MONDAVI!

This month we will focus on the history of 
Mondavi and the Charles Krug Winery.

Join Bill McPharlin & Andrew McKenna of CK Mondavi to discover the amazing wine produced by the Royalty of Napa Valley.   We will try them all, from the crisp and fruity Sauvignon Blanc through the bold and complex Cabernet Sauvignon.    The Charles Krug Winery was the first Commercial Winery established in Napa, California in 1861 and to this day remains one of the best wine producers of Napa valley.

WOW!!    The AWS Meadowlands BANFI presentation was a splendid tasting event.  We started the year with the industry’s best and extremely knowledgeable educator of wines.   Sharron McCarthy was fabulous!      

The background stories were entertaining and a lot of fun to hear.      Sharron was wonderful, as were her wine selections.  Some wines were exclusively selected for the event and a real treat for the club members who attended.   She gave us an in-depth look at the Tuscan region and the stories that enhanced our enjoyment and discovery of Italian wines.

 It was VERY difficult to pick a favorites from that bunch.  Banfi is indeed dedicated to producing fine wines and each one of these proved it.   All were uniquely fabulous.   All of these wines are rated over 90 plus points.
