AWS Meadowlands NJ Chapter April Meeting

 

The American Wine Society Meadowlands Chapter is hosting a wine tasting meeting on Friday April 29, 2022 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.   It will take place at the award-winning wine school, Make Wine with Us, located at 21 Currie Avenue, Wallington, NJ.       

With each growing season there are many factors in helping to achieve the best possible results for the grapes, the soil, weather, harvest, and other distinctions that tell us how the crop is growing and what direction should be taken to ensure the very best results.

Our wine club much like the growing season, is just like that. From time-to- time we listen to the surrounding changes to ensure that the best possible meeting will take place to give each of us that special-feeling that we get from a good wine tasting event.

So, this month in honor of spring and young woman everywhere we are celebrating “An evening of Girl Scout Cookies & Wine Pairing.” Like their motto says “Be Prepared!”

Fan-Favorite & Chapter Chair, Our own President Angel Martinez, will bring his AWS certified wine judge; WSET certified knowledge and guide us through a question that many of us have thought about but  dare not speak out loud WHAT WINE pairs with GSC?  Now I know what pairs with a Big Mac, a 1947 Chateau Lafite Rothchild of course, but GSC well I don’t know about you but that’s just unexplored territory for me.

So come & taste Thin Mints with Cabernet Sauvignon, Peanut Butter Tagalogs with Malbec, Smores with Chardonnay, Samoa’s with a Rose or Port, just to name a few.  Angel will guide us as we nibble & sample the best of both worlds, cookies and wine.  This will prove to be a wonderful evening of cookies, wine and of course good friends.

Please come and check out what the rave is all about regarding our chapter, AWS-Meadowlands, the fastest growing chapter in NJ.  Wines, delicious savory and sweet snacks, Girl Scout Cookies will be provided, YES of course Denise will be bringing her world-famous chocolate covered grapes.  All of this enjoyed with the company of some fun-loving people. $20.00 for AWS members and $25.00 for guests. Such a Deal!

AWS Meadowlands NJ Chapter March Meeting Follow-Up

On Friday March 18, the AWS Meadowlands Chapter enjoyed a great meeting of Wines from Portugal, presented by our own chapter Chair, President Angel Martinez. 

Angel’s presentation was informative, fact filled and fun.  His guide of the history of some of the wines Portugal is famous for was well received by all.

With over 35 people in attendance, enjoying wines and snacks provided by Denise, maker of the World-Famous chocolate covered grapes, a good time was had by all.

Upcoming events, a restaurant night in June, in addition to a possible special tasting dinner later in the year.  We asked for volunteers for the holiday party committee as well the confirmation to the event were discussed.  More details to follow.

Our next meeting is Friday April 29, will be Wines A to Z, presented by fan favorite Angel Martinez.  More details to follow, so lock the date down now. 

Of course, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions how to make this chapter even better, please share, we are only as strong as our members.

 Wine is a symbol of eternity, health, strength, beauty, adventure, and mystery.  It is this reason that many of you have been asking for a special presentation that will not only quench your thirst but fill your soul. One of those presentations that really makes you appreciate not only the enjoyment of the wine, but will inspire you to pass on this wine knowledge to your family and friends.   After all in wine there is truth and Love.

 Join us this month as we celebrate “Wines of Portugal | A World of Difference”; Portuguese wines have enjoyed international recognition since the times of the Romans, who associated Portugal with their Wine God Bacchus. Today, the country is known by wine lovers and its wines have won several international prizes.

 Our own Angel Martinez will be your guide to discuss the succulent white wines, robust reds and or course some of the best of all wines Ports.

 Angel is an AWS certified wine judge; WSET certified and is also our AWS Chapter Chair/President, and all around good guy.  He made me say the last part. But it’s true. If anyone can make this a memorable presentation you know that Mr. Martinez is up for the challenge.

 We strongly encourage you to also bring some friends to enjoy this very special meeting at our chapter, AWS-Meadowlands NJ, as you know we remain the fastest growing chapter in NJ.  Wines and delicious savory and sweet snacks, chocolate covered grapes oh my, will be provided, all enjoyed with the company of some fun loving people. $20.00 for AWS members and $25.00 for guests.
